About Us

Vanessa und Robert

We are Vanessa and Robert, and we share not only our life but also an eye for people, moods and special moments. In our work, photography and film come together into one shared story that holds on to closeness, atmosphere and all the small details of a day.

At home, we live together with our small four-legged companion near Frankfurt. When we are not out with the camera, we are usually drawn outside, into the woods, into a new city or somewhere we have never been before. We love good food, special places and those small pauses in which the world slows down for a moment.

Maybe that is exactly what we value most about life: noticing the small things more consciously and giving meaning to moments that would otherwise simply pass by. That is probably also why we love photography and film so much. Because for us, it is rarely the big, staged moments that stay with us, but rather a brief glance, a touch, a laugh in between or a mood that you sometimes only truly notice in hindsight. This same eye for the small things keeps showing up in our work too.

Photography

I love images you want to look at for longer than just a moment. Images that leave behind a mood or reveal a new detail every time you look again. My view on photography has changed over the years, shaped by my experiences and the people who have accompanied me. Out of that, a visual language has grown that is closely tied to who I am. Because in the end you never just photograph what happens in front of you, but always also through your own eyes.

Maybe that is also why an unplanned moment can be just as valuable to me as a deliberately composed, elaborate photograph. Photography is allowed to be art and preserve memories at the same time, to be staged or simply to happen. For me, the only thing that matters is that an image feels like something.

Film

What I love about film is that it gives a moment a whole different kind of depth. Movement, voices, music and everything that happens between the actual moments are what make a story feel alive to me. That atmosphere is exactly what I want to preserve.

What I find especially exciting is the chance to not just capture a story but also interpret it. Through perspective, pace and editing, many individual moments come together into a story all of its own. That combination of observation and creative choice is exactly what keeps fascinating me about film.

“In the end, it's the people and the feeling of a moment that give a memory its value.”
